Trigger Finger Release in Georgia: How Does it Work?

Sports Injuries

Trigger finger is a common ailment among Americans, affecting 3% of the general population and around 20% of those who suffer from diabetes. Observation, immobilization, and injections are all part of the management plan that has proven to be effective. Yet, for some patients who continue to have issues despite trying conservative treatment, we suggest trigger finger release, the most reliable and successful method. Keep on reading to find out how it works.

If you are suffering from trigger finger, at Ashford Orthopedics Specialist we offer trigger finger release surgery to get you back to your normal activities as soon as possible.

Trigger Finger Release in Georgia- A Rundown

During your first appointment with us, we will make a clinical diagnosis based on your medical history and a physical examination. After that, Dr. Ashford will be able to curate the right surgical plan that aligns with your condition and needs.

🚨If your finger is locked in a closed position, exercises, splints or physical therapy may be needed in order to unlock it before surgery.

On surgery day, one of our team members will mark and (if possible) extend your finger so it’s easier for your surgeon to identify the A1 pulley that’s, in most cases, the cause of trigger finger. He then will use either a needle through the skin or a scalpel through a surgical cut in your palm to cut it free

After surgery, you will find it easier to move your finger immediately and be encouraged to move it as soon as possible. In order to do that, you will need to perform certain lighter exercises and work your way up to the hard ones. You can be prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and/or a sling to raise your hand and keep it from swelling.
